The Only Sword

So what is really happening with King Saul, David, and let us never forget his loyal wife Michal (who helped him escape when King Saul’s hate and jealously became just so out of control.

Now Jonathan (King Saul’s son) is rightfully the heir to the throne, but Jonathan is not confident in his future position and besides he genuinely likes David as his friend, the scripture said they hugged and cried when the greeted each other (not once but twice) and renewed their covenant as friends. The scripture says David loved Jonathan as much as he loved himself (1 Samuel 20: 17), they entrusted each other and each other’s children (descendants) into God’s hands forever (1 Samuel 20:42). So, protecting him from King Saul (hid daddy) was a no brainer; but when King Saul confronts Jonathan and says you don’t think I know what you are doing helping David, King Saul got so mad he wanted to kill his own flesh and blood; (1 Samuel 20:33) King Saul hurls he spear at Jonathan (his son) out of anger and jealousy. I mean Saul calls David a son of a NOBODY; who else is King Saul insulting? David’s mama and his daddy - Jesse); and if the context was used today the “nobody” would be a “female dog”. Yeah it’s in the bible y’all I am not making this up or adding.

At this point Jonathan's knows for sure his daddy is crazy and warns David FOR REAL to get out of town and David heads to the city of Nob and connected with Ahimelech the priest.

There are so many emotional dynamics here: jealousy, hate, fear, loyalty, love, and just plain crazy; but it confirms that there is "nothing new under the sun"; and when King Saul come into my life I remember what those who came before me did and how they handled the situation and use those same principals. Do thay always work? Yes! Fast?…NO!

Honestly, I want to be King Saul sometimes and react out of anger (God gave us ALL free will, right?) but David ends up with a much better fate and life.

When King Saul comes knocking at your door, pick up the REAL sword (the Word / Bible /Scripture-dig in and study and pray) and watch God deal accordingly with all parties involved (including you-good bad indifferent). But never allow King Saul’s emotions allow you to sin.

David Brings Back the FORESKIN????? But Why!!!

I gave a glimpse into the next bible history lesson last week. What was going on with David and bringing back foreskin to King Saul. I mean Saul was setting him up big time asking him to kill 100 Philistines as a dowry for his other daughter, all while hoping he was killed by the Philistines; remember King Saul began to hate on David (jealousy and hate = a bad combination)
But David not only killed 100 Philistines he killed an extra 100=200 Philistine and THEN if THAT was not enough he CIRCUMCISED these men. Another bloody mess, but this is war between the Philistines and Israelite..remember Goliath – Philistine.
So Hunny/Kelli why did David cut of these men foreskin (circumcise them)????
David was bringing them under submission to his God and the Israelite’s covenant with God; which is that men (boys) were/are to be circumcised, that is why the majority of boys today are circumcised (I am not sure if parents/Doctors understand the bible history about it, but I doubt a doctor just decided one day to cut off a new-born boy’s foreskin…there is a history behind it).
So David KNOWS that the Philistines are uncircumcised, so he brings them under submission of his God through the cutting off of the foreskin…..King Saul, back up off David. All that would have been enough for me, bring me back 200 men foreskin right after the head cutting and walking back through town with it and all in the name of God..fall back King Saul..fall back..you must know by now who David’s God is.
When you slay those situations/people in your life in the name of God….think about how God kept David though situations that should have killed HIM….same God then and forever more (only we change God NEVER does)

1Samuel 18: 17-30

David and Goliath....... More than just a rock throwing story.

David was just a boy when he killed Goliath, but he did not just kill him with the rock between the forehead he took Goliath’s own sword and cut off his head and carried it all the way back to Jerusalem…..must have been a bloody mess; but David was standing strong on his faith in God because he took off all the armor Saul gave him to fight in and went by FAITH, his confidence was not in himself but in the living God.
Sometimes people read or teach from the bible like a fairy tale, but when I read the Word I read it for what it says and is. I mean David cut off his head, bet that’s a twist to the story we all grew up on.
Stay tuned though, because David makes big enemies especially those he thought were his friends. Sound familiar today huh? Let see how David deals and how God protects and blesses him.
Please feel free to leave a post eBible study y’all
Have a peaceful and blessed day!
